LOCKING
MECHANISMS
EZLock
BL-6290 Base Lock
|
The BL-6290 Base Lock
is the heart of the EZ Lock system. The casing is
made of sturdy 3/16” powder coated steel, and
the locking jaws are ¼” steel coated
with a permanently bonded lubricant. Entry into the
lock is mechanical, and release is effected by an
electrical pull solenoid. An emergency mechanical
release is also incorporated in case the vehicle loses
power. The base lock is mounted to the floor of the
vehicle, and acts as the receiver for the interfacing
pin mounted to the wheelchair.
|
The Wheelchair Bracket
is the interface mounted to the wheelchair that
allows it to dock into the BL-6290 base lock. The
EZ Lock system can accommodate a wide array of wheelchair
styles, including manual and power wheelchairs.
Although we can provide an interface for most all
of the popular wheelchairs on today's market, it
is advisible to check with EZ Lock, or your local
adaptive equipment dealer, to ensure that we have
a system that is appropriate for your wheelchair.
When consulting your dealer about availability it
would be helpful to have the name of the manufacturer,
the model of the wheelchair, model number, and to
note any accessories that might interfere with the
bracket installation (reclining or elevating seat,
vent tray etc...).

The picture above illustrates the
wheelchair bracket applied to a standard manual
wheelchair. The application pictured also includes
the front stabilizer which is required for all drivers.
The stabilizer is designed to minimize any tipping
or side to side motion. The EZ Lock system is used
for both manual and power wheelchairs, and is suitable
for both drivers and passengers.
The ECU-2 is the main user interface
for the EZ Lock system. The functions of the ECU-2
include release, alarm buzzer deactivation for unoccupied
use, and an array of warning indicators. The green
light signifies that the locking jaws are completely
closed and the system is safe to use. The yellow
indicator light means that the locking jaws are
not completely closed, and the user should exit,
then re-enter the base lock. The red light indicates
that the system has been de-activated, and is for
unoccupied use only.
